"...data protection is far more about ensuring that the rights and freedoms of individuals are adequately protected when their personal data is processed — in other words, it is as much about respecting human rights as anything else."
Robert Bond
Early on in his legal career, little did Robert Bond know that the work he did on his next door neighbour’s newly developed computer game would set him on such an unexpected and specialised career trajectory.
Leading to further legal work in the gaming sphere, notably the Tomb Raider and James Bond games, Robert became one of the first lawyers to get involved with data protection and information security. This sector has since bourgeoned in a way that no one would have predicted in those early days.
From working within the gaming industry to advising governments internationally on the development of their data privacy and data protection laws and regulations; helping organisations, large and small, from global multi-nationals to startups and not-for-profits, implement compliance procedures and react to data incidents, Robert’s knowledge and experience now sees him recognised as a leading expert worldwide.
Robert is involved in an array of specialist organisations. He is the current President of the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics, the first non-American to be elected to the position. More recently, he has been appointed as Commissioner to the Data & Marketing Commission (DMC), where he will play an active role in adjudicating on complaints made against DMC members.
Those of you who heard Robert speak at the Isle of Man Compliance Professionals Manx State of the Nations conference in early 2022 will be familiar with his witty and engaging style of delivery.
This, along with his in-depth subject matter expertise, entertaining anecdotes, and illuminating case studies, really helps to bring the subject matter alive.
Whether you are new to GDPR or the company expert, we are sure you will find the workshops invaluable, resulting in increased confidence and understanding when dealing with data protection matters.
We look forward to hearing from you.
